Towson, Md – At a Wednesday night dual meet with EAGL foe George Washington University, the Towson University women's gymnastics team picked up a dominant win, posting a season high 196.125.
The Tigers remained in the lead after each rotation, picking up six top-three finishes, two of which were first places from
Clara Hong and
Amy Stewart.
George Washington finished with 195.550 after receiving scores of 48.400 for bars, 49.100 for vault, 49.075 for floor and 48.975 for beam.
How it Happened:
Vault – 48.850
- Adrianna Hoffman started off the meet strong for the tigers, earning a season best 9.800.
- Camille Vitoff followed, receiving a 9.775.
- Polina Belanovski posted the highest score for Towson, 9.825, to place second overall.
- After the conclusion of the first rotation the Tigers took the lead, edging out George Washington by .450.
Bars – 49.275
- Lauren Keener opened the second rotation for Towson with a season high 9.850.
- Clara Hong received a career best 9.925 after sticking her landing, grabbing the first-place spot overall in the event.
- Towson nearly swept the event, with the rest of the Tigers claiming the third through fifth place spots.
- Tigers remained in the lead after the second rotation.
Beam – 48.625
- After a minor setback on beam Towson was still able to hold onto the lead going into the final rotation.
Floor – 49.375
- Clara Hong debuted on floor for this season, earning a 9.800.
- With a near perfect looking routine Isabella Minervini placed second with a career best 9.900.
- Carmella Calafati earned a 9.875, making this the third meet in a row she has earned that score.
- Amy Stewart wrapped up the meet with a stellar gold medal performance, receiving a 9.925 to win the event individually.
