Towson, MD – The Towson University track & field team wrapped up day one of the Towson Invitational, securing multiple podium finishes and personal records.

Beighley Ayers,
Georgia Coleman and
Fatimah Owens found success in their respective events, each picking up gold medals.
How it Happened – Track
- Emily Lunger (1:05.17) and Jasmine Johnson placed second and third respectively in their heat, both clocking season bests.
- Cristal Cuervo took first in the 200 meter dash with a new PR of 24.06, which places her at third all-time in program history.
- Sydney Tucker followed right behind Cuervo to place second with a PR of 24.13, good enough for fourth all-time in Towson history.
- Maya Tucker claimed fourth place in the same event after clocking a 24.58. Ty'Liyah Hannah placed seventh with a 25.16.
- Kiara Murray, Denee Hibbert, Amanda Tony and Sara Veres competed in the 200 as well.
- Beighley Ayers earned the second gold medal of the day, running a 17:30.37 in the 5K to become the seventh fastest in program history.
- Aubrey Schaffer finished right behind Ayers, dropping over 20 seconds to clock a 18:24.25 for second place.
How it Happened – Field
- Maya Tucker competed in her first ever long jump, earning a mark of 5.28 meters.
- In the long jump Manie Mevo finished in fifth with a season best mark of 5.66 meters, which puts her at ninth all-time.
- Kiara Murray, Skylar Galiano-Holmes and Amanda Tony competed in the long jump as well.
- Georgia Coleman won the hammer throw with a season best toss of 57.17 meters. Fatimah Owens collected a new PR, throwing 47.71 meters to place fourth.
- Owens earned the victory in the shot put with a toss of 13.94 meters. Coleman finished fourth with a throw of 12.70 meters.

Day two of the Towson Invitational will resume tomorrow beginning with the women's discus and women's triple jump at 10:00 a.m. The team's six graduating seniors are to be recognized and honored for their time with Towson during a ceremony.
