The 54-hole tournament kicks off for the two on Monday May 8 at Shoal Creek. The second round takes place at Bent Brook and for the final round players will return to Shoal Creek.

The tournament will be broadcasted live for the first time in the Championship's history through NBC Sports on the GOLF Channel and Peacock. PGA.com will also stream the tournament.

Per PGA Works: "The PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship, the most culturally significant championship in collegiate golf, annually hosts student-athletes enrolled in Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic-Serving Institutions, and other Minority-Serving Educational Institutions.

The PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship (PWCC) was created in 1986 to highlight competitive golf programs at the most underserved and underrepresented Minority-Serving Institutions in the country, and educate and inspire student-athletes to pursue career opportunities in the business of golf and beyond. PWCC is considered the most culturally significant championship in collegiate golf (76% of 2022 players identified as "non-white").

The individual competition is open to all minority men and women student-athletes playing collegiate golf at the Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA, and NJCAA level, or participants who are enrolled in one of the PGA of America's PGA Golf Management University Programs."

Gonzalez has played 29 rounds across 10 tournaments for the 2022-23 season, earning an average of 74.76. His best performance was at the Hartford Hawks Invitational where he tied for eighth after rounds of 72-66-73, shooting a career low for the second round. Gonzalez was named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men's Golfer of the Week following the tournament (9/21/22). At last year's PGA Works Collegiate Championship Gonzalez carded 76-83-76.
