Towson Field Hockey Adds Transfers Kaufman & Bruce to the 2023 Class

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University field hockey team has signed transfers Ella Kaufman and Gabby Bruce for the upcoming 2023 season, head coach Katie Gerzabek Salem announced. Kaufman and Bruce are the first two signings of the 2023 class.

Kaufman joins Towson after playing for Delaware the last two seasons, helping the Blue Hens win their tenth and 11th Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championships and earn an NCAA tournament berth in 2021 and 2022. Kaufman made 21 appearances for Delaware in her freshman campaign and scored one goal in one appearance in the 2022 season.

The Queenstown, Maryland native is a two-time Bayside North Conference Player of the Year and All-State First Team Midfield member at Kent Island High School. Kaufman was named to the 2019 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Mid-Atlantic Region Team and won two 2A regional championships in 2017 and 2018.

"We cannot wait for Ella to be a part of our Tiger family! Her experience with having been named to the USA U18 National RISE and U21 National squads will help elevate our program daily. Not only will her technical skills and ball control be a fantastic addition to our attacking unit, but her energy and love for the game will fit right into our evolving Towson FH team culture," noted Coach Gerzabek Salem.

Gabby Bruce was a member of the Monmouth Hawks last season despite not seeing the pitch in her freshman campaign. The Havre de Grace, Maryland native was First Team All-State in Maryland and was named to the NFHCA Senior Impact Team as a senior out of Maryvale Preparatory School. Bruce was an Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM) All-Conference Team selection as a sophomore.

"We are excited to welcome Gabby back to her home state where she was a First Team All-State selection her senior year. Gabby's athleticism, speed and tenacity will blend in perfectly with our defensive unit. We look forward to seeing the development and impact that Gabby will have on our team and program in the future," added Gerzabek Salem.
