HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Towson softball had three players earn First Team All-CAA honors as six total players earned all-conference honors, the league announced on Tuesday morning. The three Tigers on the first team are the most since 2018 and is the fourth time that Towson placed three on the first team.
The All-CAA Teams are nominated and voted on by the league's head coaches. This is the fourth time Towson landed three players on the first team. The Tigers also had a trio on the first team in 2003, 2016 and 2018.
Juniors
Madyson Peters and
Mackenzie Lake, as well as freshman
Addie Ferguson were named to the First Team All-CAA. It is the first all-conference awards for all three. All three Tigers finished the season batting over .300 with Lake leading the way at .403 with 64 hits, five triples, five home runs and 36 RBIs. Peters finished with a .325 batting average and 18 doubles, tying Lake with 36 RBIs.
Ferguson had a strong rookie campaign that saw her bat .316 with three home runs and 14 RBIs.
Briana Ramirez earned her second straight all-conference honor by being named to the Second Team All-CAA after earning first team honors in 2022. Ramirez finished second on the team with a .362 batting average on 59 hits with 14 stolen bases.
Ferguson was also named to the All-Rookie Team where she was joined by classmate
Cara Bohner and
Kristin Toland. Bohner hit .284 in her rookie season after taking over in right field early in the season. Bohner had 29 hits with seven doubles, two home runs and 24 RBIs. Toland earned all-rookie honors after redshirting last season. The Sparrows Point native ended with a .241 batting averaging, collecting 19 hits and 13 RBIs.
Towson opens the 2023 CAA Softball Championships this morning against No. 8 North Carolina A&T at 12 p.m. on FloSoftball.
