TOWSON, Md. – Head coach
Consandria Walker-Hall has announced the 2023 Towson University cross country schedule. The Tigers are set to participate in six meets between September and November, staying relatively local as they will compete in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
Maryland native
Aubrey Schaffer is set to return for her junior year with the Tigers. Behind recent graduate
Beighley Ayers, Schaffer was the next top finisher for Towson at all six meets last season. She ran a personal best of 22:54.9 in the 6k at the Paul Short Run (9/30/2022). Other notable returners include
Alexis Mogensen and
Morgan Loewe who hit season best marks of 24.20.9 and 23.18.5 respectively.
"We've built a strong, consistent schedule revolving around some highly competitive meets," cross country/distance coach
Evan Freeman commented.
The team opens the fall slate with two local meets, first heading to Goucher University for the Baltimore Metro Meet on September 1
st before competing in the Navy Invitational on September 9
th. September wraps up with the annual Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University on 29
th.
"We are excited to open up our season with our return to the Baltimore Metro Meet," Freeman added. "We had great performances at Navy and Paul Short last fall and are looking forward to those races as well."
October begins with the Aubrey Shenk Invitational, hosted by Gettysburg College on the 14
th.
After finishing regular season meets the Black and Gold will be set for the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Championships, hosted by William & Mary on October 27
th at the Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Virginia.
The season will conclude with the NCAA Cross Country Regionals on November 10
th. Those who qualify will travel back to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for the meet hosted by Lehigh.
