TOWSON, Md. – Several Towson University baseball players continued to play baseball through the end of the 2023 season, with 21 players joining 15 collegiate summer league teams across eight states.
Relief pitcher
Nate Nabholz was one of three Towson players to join the Wausau Woodchucks of the Northwoods League. Nabholz earned a spot in the Northwoods League All-Star game after recording a 3.22 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 44.2 innings pitched over nine appearances (seven starts).
Ethan Pecko, another member of the Woodchucks, notched a 1.04 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 26.0 innings pitched over five starts before being selected by the Houston Astros in round six on day two of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft (MLB).
Two-way player
Bobby Spencer joined the Southern Ohio Copperheads in the Great Lakes Collegiate Summer League (GLCSL), finishing 3-0 with a 1.46 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 37.0 innings pitched over six starts on the mound. At the dish, Spencer batted .267 with nine runs, two doubles and eight RBI in nine games. Spencer got the nod for the South Division in the GLCSL All-Star game, tossing one hitless inning with a strikeout and walk.
Second baseman and right-handed pitcher
Jordan Peyton earned All-Star honors in the New England Collegiate Baseball League playing for the Bristol Blues. He batted .314 with 18 runs scored, two doubles, nine RBI and 15 stolen bases in 31 games played. Peyton made five relief appearances, finishing 1-0 with a 4.76 ERA and six strikeouts in 5.2 innings pitched.
Reliever
Luis Rivera joined the Everett Merchants of the Pacific International League, notching two saves and 15 strikeouts in 11.2 relief innings.
Right fielder
Jeremy Wagner played 20 games for the Waynesboro Generals of the Valley Baseball League, batting .333 with 15 runs scored and 10 RBI.
Jack Lawrence played for the Saugerties Stallions in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League, posting a .321 average with 10 runs, five doubles and 12 RBI.
Edem Okpattah joined the New York Collegiate Baseball League to play for the Sherrill Silversmiths. He batted .231 with 12 runs scored, 10 doubles, two home runs, six RBI and 14 stolen bases over 34 games.
