PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Towson University gymnastics team wrapped up first conference meet of the season against Temple, falling to the Owls 195.325 – 195.900. The Tigers earned scores of 48.800 or better on each event and had the highest bars score of the meet.
The Black & Gold were in striking distance from Temple throughout most of the meet, trailing by no more than .200 during the first three rotations. The Owls ultimately pulled away for the final rotation after putting up a 49.175 on floor, their highest event score of the meet.
Towson saw solid improvement from the season opener last Sunday, improving the team score by .100 and beam score by 1.05.
The Tigers earned four podium finishes including a first-place victory from
Isabella Minervini on uneven bars. Several gymnasts posted season highs as well.
By Rotation
Rotation One – Bars – 48.875
- Isabella Minervini anchored the lineup with a clean routine, sticking her dismount to receive a 9.900 season high. The sophomore placed first overall, earning Towson's first victory of the night.
- Grace Vaillancourt posted the Tigers' second highest score of the event, logging a 9.800 to place fourth.
- Lauren Greene earned a season high 9.775 while Lauren Keener posted a 9.750. Greene and Keener placed fifth and sixth respectively.
Rotation Two – Vault – 48.800
- Elise Tisler matched her career high 9.850 to earn the highest score for the Tigers and place second overall.
- Retoshia Halsell made her collegiate debut with a solid 9.775, nearly sticking her landing. The freshman tied with teammate Jenna Weitz for sixth place.
- Graduate student Camille Vitoff received a 9.750.
Rotation Three – Floor – 48.850
- Tisler improved her score from last weeks meet by .025 to post a season-high 9.825 and place fourth.
- Vaillancourt matched Tisler's score, anchoring the lineup with a 9.825.
- Carmella Calafati received a 9.800 while Jenna Weitz and Isabella Minervini logged a pair of 9.7's.
Rotation Four – Beam – 48.800
- Clara Hong and Jenna Weitz logged a pair of 9.825, which is a big season high for Weitz as she posted a 9.700 last Sunday. Both Tigers made their way on to the podium, tying for second overall.
- Isabella Minervini picked up a season high as well, receiving a 9.775.
- Lauren Keener put up a 9.775.
