UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Towson University track & field team is sending select athletes to compete in the Penn National Open meet, hosted by Penn State on January 26 and 27.

Field: The Tigers will be up against athletes from Virginia, West Virginia, University of North Carolina, Georgetown, Villanova, Princeton, Penn State, Penn, James Madison University, Pittsburgh, Hampton, Coppin State, Ohio University, Buffalo, Bowling Green, Akron, UMBC, Norfolk State, Morgan State, Colgate, Liberty, Saint Francis, Bucknell, Duquesne, Canisius, Binghampton, Western Ontario and Guelph.

Last Meet Recap
The Tigers picked up six first place finishes, several new PRs and one new school record last Friday at split meets in New York.

The sprint squad found success in the 60m dash at the Ramapo College Season Opener as each athlete ran new PRs and posted times in the top-10 all-time list. Sydney Tucker led the way with the fourth fastest time in program history, 7.58, to place first overall. Ty'Liyah Hannah finished right behind her in second place with the sixth fastest time in school history – 7.62. Cristal Cuervo ran a 7.69 which is seventh fastest in school history for fourth place.

The 4x400 relay of Madison Parham, Cristal Cuervo, Maya Tucker and Ty'Liyah Hannah ran the 10^th fastest time in school history, 3:55.79.

Manie Mevo captured two victories in the long and triple jump. Mevo reset her own school record in the triple jump with a leap of 12.50m, which is also breaks the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) school record. The sophomore had a mark of 5.56m in the long jump.

Leeann Redlo placed third overall in the long jump with a new PR of 5.41m, which ranks 10^th in program history. She won the high jump with a mark of 1.70m.

Fatimah Owens took second place in the shot put with a mark of 13.31 before going on to win the weight throw with a season best toss of 17.66m. Both marks rank in the top-10 all-time.
 

In The Rankings
The Tigers are currently ranked 13^th in the Mid-Atlantic Region via the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, which is the team's highest ranking since February 2022.

Several Tigers rank in the top-10 individually in the CAA. Sydney Tucker ranks fifth in the 60m while Ty'Liyah Hannah ranks eighth. Cristal Cuervo sits at second in the 200m dash. Satori Valentine ranks ninth in the 400m. Leeann Redlo ranks 10^th in the 60m hurdles and second in the high jump. Manie Mevo sits ninth in the long jump and first in the triple jump. Omokemi Balogun and Skylar Galiano-Holmes rank sixth and seventh in the triple jump, respectively. Fatimah Owens is sixth in the shot put and third in the weight throw.

Manie Mevo ranks 40^th nationally in the triple jump.
