TOWSON, Md. – Two gymnasts from Towson University were named to the All-American team at the conclusion of the 2024 regular season, announced by the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) on Thursday.
In order to be named an All-American, gymnasts must rank in the top 16 (including ties) in the NCAA (via RoadToNationals) on their respective events. Those who rank in the top eight are named to the first team while those ranked ninth through 16 earn a spot on the second team. Rankings are based on National Qualifying Score (NQS).
Elise Tisler was named to the vault second team after ranking tied for 13
th in the NCAA with a 9.920 NQS and
Isabella Minervini was tabbed to the bars first team with a 9.960 NQS, tied for fourth in the country.
These two Tigers are the third and fourth Division I All-American gymnasts in Towson program history. Gabi Weller was named to the vault first team in 2000 while Erin Shanley was named to the bars second team in 1997. Minervini is also the highest ranked gymnast in the NCAA for the Tigers.
Minervini competed in every single regular season meet as well as the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championship on bars, anchoring for the Tigers each time. She scored 9.900 or higher in 11 of her 14 routines, hitting a career-high 9.975 on February 16 at George Washington. She posted the same score the following week at home before matching her career-high once more on March 15 at Towson's final home meet. With that score, she ranks second in Towson program history. The sophomore concluded the season with a dominant win at the EAGL Championship, winning bars with a 9.950, .050 ahead of the runner up. She picked up nine victories on the event and an additional four podium finishes. Minervini remained atop EAGL on bars, ranking first in the conference for all ten weeks of the regular season. The Florida native picked up two consecutive EAGL Specialist of the week awards, was named to First Team All-EAGL bars and EAGL First Team All-Tournament bars.
Tisler was in the lineup for vault at all regular season meets and at EAGL Championships. She scored 9.900 or better six times, logging her career best 9.975 on March 1 at Penn State after receiving a perfect 10.0 from one judge. With that mark, the junior ranks second in program history, tying for the second-best score recorded by a Towson gymnast. Tisler collected six first place finishes on vault, one of which was at the EAGL Championship, and an additional four podium spots throughout the season. She ranks first in EAGL on the event and was 11
th in the NCAA during week 10. The Virginia native showed her versatility this year as she had a nearly equally successful season on floor, hitting a career-high 9.975 on February 23 after receiving another 10.0 from one judge for her performance. She was named to the All-EAGL First Team on vault and floor as well as First Team All-Tournament for the same two events.
