Riley Cards 69 On Second Day Of CAA Championship As Towson Men’s Golf Moves Up One Spot

BEAUFORT, S.C. – The Towson University men's golf team dropped 10 strokes off of its first round score for day two of the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Championship, finishing play with a final score of 305 (+7). The improvement helped the team move up one spot, passing North Carolina A&T and Hofstra.

Elon passed UNCW and currently leads the 11 team field after shooting 279 (-9) for round two. College of Charleston moved up a spot to now sit in second place and UNCW rounds out the podium in third. Kieron Van Wyk of Charleson is the individual leader, wrapping up day two of play 9-under after rounds of 66 and 69.

Brad Riley was the Tigers' top performer for the second round of the championship, shaving off 11 strokes from his score yesterday to shoot 69 (-3). The fifth-year started off strong, offsetting a bogey with two more birdies and parring the other six holes during his front nine to put him at 1-under going into the final nine holes. Riley carried his momentum throughout his back nine, parring his first three holes before birdieing back-to-back holes on No 13-14 which put him at 3-under. He finished the round with four more pars. Three of his four birdies of the day were on par 5's.

Michael Matheson had the second best score of the round for the Black & Gold, shaving off one stroke from his first day score. The freshman carded a 74 (+2), tallying two birdies during his front nine.

Joshua Galindo dropped nine strokes from his first round score, recording a 75 (+3). He had a solid front nine, birdieing back-to-back holes on No. 2 and 3 to put him at 2-under before double bogeying hole No. 9. He added another birdie during his final hole of the day.

Ariihau Faana and Sky Aung shot 77 (+5) and 79 (+7), respectively.

The Tigers wrap up the championship tomorrow, teeing off at 8:00 a.m. for the final 18 holes.
