TAMPA, Fla. – The Towson track & field team had a successful Saturday down in Florida, setting one new school record and posting several marks in the top 10 all-time in program history.
The 4x100 relay (
Sydney Tucker,
Maya Tucker,
Cristal Cuervo,
Ty'Liyah Hannah) kicked things off for the Tigers on the track side, placing second overall only .12 behind the event winner and meet host South Florida. The Black & Gold crossed the finish line in a school record time of 44.86, smashing their previous program record mark of 45.25 set three weeks ago at the Towson Season Opener.
Cristal Cuervo ran her first 400m of the 2024 outdoor season, clocking a 55.20 for 11
th place. The time ranks fourth all-time in program history.
Satori Valentine ran a 57.06 in the same event.
Maya Tucker was Towson's top performer in the 100m dash, finishing fourth overall with an 11.44, her second fastest time and only .06 off of her school record mark set last week.
Ty'Liyah Hannah broke 12 seconds for the first time in her collegiate career, clocking a PR of 11.76.
Sydney Tucker finished with a 11.81.
Baara Stewart posted a huge PR of 2:15.00 in the 800m to win her heat and drop over 3 seconds from her mark posted at the previous meet. The time moves her up to sixth all-time in program history.
Maya Tucker picked up another fourth-place finish in the 200m with a time of 23.73, less than half a second off of her PR.
Sydney Tucker posted a 24.40 while
Ty'Liyah Hannah ran a PR of 24.68.
The 4x400 relay concluded the track events with the eighth fastest time in program history, 3:49.04, for sixth place.
On the field side,
Manie Mevo leapt 5.33m in the long jump. In the triple jump she placed fifth with a distance of 12.45m, the second highest mark in program history.
Kiara Murray posted a 11.88m in the same event, which moves her to seventh all-time.
Leeann Redlo won the high jump, matching her personal best mark of 1.75m which ranks second all-time.
Fatimah Owens tossed a mark of 14.26m in the shot put and 48.42m in the discus. Her performance in the discus placed her second and ranks third all-time.

Next the team heads to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania on April 13 and 14 for the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell University.
