ELON, N.C. – The Towson track & field team wrapped up the 2024 Outdoor Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Championship in fifth place, two spots higher than its finish at last year's events. The Tigers accumulated 78 points supported by seven podium finishes, one of which was a first-place finish from
Manie Mevo in the triple jump.
Northeastern captured the championship title, winning with 128.5 points. Elon placed second with 111 points while Hampton rounded out the top three with 105.
Fatimah Owens opened the meet with a podium finish, placing second in the shot put after tossing 14.63m. She followed up with another silver medal performance in the discus, throwing a school record mark of 52.25m. With that result, Owens has officially qualified for the NCAA East Regional meet at the University of Kentucky in two weeks.
Leeann Redlo took fifth place in the high jump, earning four points for the Tigers, after leaping a mark of 1.70m.
In the 400m dash finals,
Cristal Cuervo became Towson's first woman runner to clock under 54 seconds. The junior ran a school record time of 53.33, collecting a silver medal and eight points for the Black & Gold.
Maya Tucker ran a11.57 in the 100m dash finals, good enough for third place.
Sydney Tucker finished in sixth with a time of 11.79.
Manie Mevo secured her second consecutive outdoor triple jump title, winning the event with a distance of 12.67m. She has taken gold in the event for the past two conference championships
Baara Stewart moved up three spots from her seeded spot in the 800m finals after breaking 2:13 for the first time in her career. The freshman clocked a 2:12.93 for fifth place, which is the third fastest time in program history.
Spencer Settle ran a PR of 1:00.85 in the 400m hurdles to take fifth place. The time falls at sixth in the top-10 all-time list.
Maya Tucker collected her second bronze medal of the day in the 200m dash, placing third with a 23.61.
Cristal Cuervo followed in fourth place, picking up five points for the team.
The 4x400 relay wrapped up the meet with a new school record of 3:42.10. The squad of

Sydney Tucker made their way onto the podium, taking third place overall after edging out top seed Hampton by .07.
