LEXINGTON, KY – Cristal Cuervo and
Maya Tucker opened the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminary Meet for the Tigers, competing in a total of three events on Thursday evening at the University of Kentucky.
Tucker started off for the Black & Gold, racing in the second heat of the 100m dash. The junior clocked an 11.65, which is her third fastest time in the event this outdoor season. She placed sixth in her heat and 38
thoverall.
Cristal Cuervo followed up with a school record in the 400m after a strong race where she placed fourth in her heat. The Panama native clocked a 53.24, .09 faster than her previous PR and school record time of 53.33. The junior placed 24
th overall out of 48 athletes, nearly qualifying for quarterfinals.
Tucker wrapped up the day with a 23.57 in the 200m dash, her third fastest time this season and third fastest time in Towson program history.
The Tigers continue competition on Saturday where
Fatimah Owens competes in the discus at 1:00 p.m. and
Manie Mevo competes in the triple jump at 6:00 p.m.
