TOWSON, Md. – The 2024 schedule for the Towson University cross country team has officially been released, announced by head coach
Consandria Walker-Hall and assistant coach
Evan Freeman.
Recent graduate
Aubrey Schaffer was the team's top performer for the 2023 season. The Maryland native ran the program's fastest time at all five meets. She clocked PRs in both the 5k and 6k, running 19:06.7 and 22:21.60 respectively. The Tigers' highest finish last season was at the Aubrey Shenk Invitational where they placed fourth out of 26 teams after all seven Tigers ran season or lifetime bests. The top returners for the upcoming season include
Lexi Mogensen and
Baara Stewart who consistently finished behind Schaffer at all six meets.
For the second consecutive season, the Tigers kick things off down the road at Goucher College. The team will compete at the Baltimore Metro Meet on August 30.
The Black & Gold then travel to the first out-of-state meet of the season, attending the Delaware State Invite on September 13. The Tigers remain in the Blue Hen State for the following competition, set to race in the University of Delaware Invite in Newark on September 20.
On October 5 Towson heads up to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for the annual Paul Short run.
The Tigers return to Pennsylvania for the Aubrey Shenk Invitational on October 19 in preparation for the conference championship.
The Tigers conclude their 2024 campaign with the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Championship at Elon University on November 1. Those who qualify for NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals compete at Penn State on November 15. The NCAA Championship is slated for November 23 at the University of Wisconsin.
