ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Towson University women's golf team wrapped up day one of the Navy Fall Invitational in 11
th place, ahead of Wagner, Bryant, The Citadel and Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) foe Hofstra. The Black & Gold shot 37-over par, 325.
Only four strokes separate the top three teams. Lehigh claimed the top spot after the first day, coming in first place with a 12-over 300. Host team Navy sits in second place, one stroke behind the Mountain Hawks. Queens University of Charlotte rounds out the podium in third after shooting 304. Emma Tang of Navy and Maria Fernanda Calleja Pineda of Wagner tied for first place with scores of 1-under, 71.
Peyton Costabile led the squad's first day effort as the highest finishing Tiger, placing 30th after carding a 79. She earned one birdie during the back nine on No. 14.
Rayab Lee and
Kanchana Kanchanaphiboon tied for 37
th after shooting 81 for their first rounds. Lee birdied the same hole as Costabile during the back nine.
Kalyn Doss, competing as an individual, wrapped up round one of her first collegiate tournament after recording 83 which places her at 48
th. The freshman birdied hole No. 13. One stroke behind her was
Luciana Calbimonte who shot an 84.
Grace Oristian and
Flora Peugnet (individual) shot 85 and 89, respectively. Peugnet birdied the second hole for her first tournament with the Tigers.
Kyndall Campbell (individual) rounded out the squad with a 95. The junior birdied the 11
th hole.
