PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The No. 34 Towson University gymnastics team notched a 49.100 on the floor plus won the bars routine despite a third-place finish in the Rutgers January Quad, finishing with a team score of 193.950.
 
Rutgers won the meet with a score of 194.450, passing UPenn's 194.325 on the final 9.850 floor routine by Gabrielle Dildy.  West Chester took fourth on a 189.200.
 
How it Happened for Towson (in Rotation Order)

• Bars – 48.900
  • Towson steadily improved scores through the first five performers of its first rotation, beginning with a 9.700 and 9.750 from Lauren Keener and Lauren Greene. Clara Hong continued with a 9.800.
  • Steph Macasu and Chelsey Dennis followed up each with a 9.825.  Dennis notched a new career-high on bars with that 9.825 score.
• Beam – 47.625
  • Towson was forced to have a couple of lower scores due to a few falls on the beam.  Isabella Minervini, going second, notched a new career-best on beam with a 9.800.
  • Clara Hong finished with a 9.775 while Lauren Keener got a 9.750 in fourth and fifth position respectively.
• Floor – 49.100
  • Ana Kenefick got Towson off to a strong start with an 9.825.  Following Isabella DeCroo with a 9.775 and Reese Toland with a career-best 9.700, Carmella Calafati equaled Kenefick's performance with a 9.825.
  • Towson's veterans finished strongly, with Clara Hong delivering a 9.800 followed by Isabella Minervini with a career-best 9.875.
• Vault – 48.325
  • The freshmen led the way early on the vault, with Reese Toland earning a new career-high in her second meet off a 9.750.  Felica Poblete followed with a 9.700.
  • To finish out the rotation, Callie Gardner tied a career-high with a 9.600, then Polina Belanovski earned the top score on vault for Towson with a 9.775.

• Towson's 49.100 is the team's first 49+ rotation score of the year.

• Towson goes to Philadelphia on Friday, Jan. 17 for the UPenn Quad Meet at 6 p.m., taking on UPenn, Yale and Ursinus.
