In their last time out, the Tigers lost to Stony Brook, 3-1, and played Northeastern to a 1-1 draw on the road. The Tigers now sit on six points tied for third with Hofstra in the North Division. With the recent change to the CAA postseason bracket, all North Division teams will play each other to determine who faces the South Division's representative in the conference tournament championship game. Six teams make the tournament, three from each division, with the two and three seeds playing each other in the opening round before facing the one seed in their division in the semifinals for the right to face the opposing division's representative in the conference tournament final.
2025 OUTLOOK
While head coach
Katherine Vettori will have to replace all-league performers
Riley Melendez,
Maja Hansson and
Demi Pierre, six starters return from the 2024 squad that went undefeated during the month of October – finishing that stretch with four wins and three ties, including three of the top four point producers:
Sophie Thibeault (7 goals, 2 assists),
Malin Bernt Schöps (4g, 1a) and
Kale'a Perry (2g, 3a). Three other starters, midfielder
Emma Levin and defenders
Brooke Birrell and
Sydney Lindeman, also return.
Towson was picked to finish fourth in the 2025 Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) North Division in the preseason coaches' poll – behind Stony Brook, Monmouth and Hofstra and ahead of Northeastern and Drexel. Starting this season, CAA women's soccer has been separated into two divisions, North and South. Each team will play all teams in its division plus four matches against the other division. The top three teams in each division will qualify for the 2025 CAA Championship.
FRESH FACES
Towson welcomed nine new players this season, five freshman and four transfers: defenders
Gracen Houck, (Morehead State) and
Emma Kirkpatrick (Rhode Island), forward
Luisa Navas Gonzalez (Mount St. Mary's) and midfielder
Emely Rubio (Campbell). The four bring 181 games of collegiate experience from their previous institutions. Rubio and Houck spent the 2025 spring semester with Towson.
SCOUTING MONMOUTH
The Hawks are 8-4-1 on the season and 3-2 in CAA play. They are the only team to beat Stony Brook in conference. They started conference play slow with two losses to open the conference schedule before rattling off three straight wins in their past three games. Monmouth's scoring efforts are led by Summer Reinert who has eight goals and two assists on the season. Defensively, the Hawks boast three clean sheets with a .717 save percentage from Tallulah Miller.
NEXT UP
Towson will play the final three games of the season on the road starting with a North Carolina swing against Campbell on Oct. 16 and Elon on Oct. 19. Campbell and Elon both sit just out of the postseason race, one and three points behind third place in the South Division, respectively. Campbell has seven points in conference play and Elon has five points after going unbeaten in the non-conference slate.
