HAMPTON, Va. – The Towson University men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed day two of the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) conference championships at Hampton. The men's team is currently in fourth place with 196.5 points in the standings while the women's team remains in fifth place with 326 points.
How it Happened Men:
- Stephen McDonald qualified for the finals heat in the 500 Free, he placed 8th in the finals with a time of 4:27.29.
- Sean Colson was the lone Tiger in the finals of the 200 IM and became the first Tiger to finish on the podium as he finished in second place to take silver with a time of 1:47.20.
- Luke Schwar qualified for finals in the 50 Free and finished in a tie for 6th place at 19.99.
- Colson, David Walton, Benjamin Eischeid and Schwar placed 5th in the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 3:11.47.
How it Happened Women:
- A quarter of the women's 500 Free final were Tigers as Bridget Thomas and Addie Scott both qualified for the finals heat. Thomas finished 5th with a time of 4:54.78 with Scott right behind her in 6th at 4:54.79.
- Martina Ciriesi qualified for finals in the 200 IM and took 6th place swimming 2:01.60.
- Two more Tigers were in the 50 Free finals and Marissa Kleckner (22.89) would finish 4th and Bjartey Gudmundsdottir (22.96) placed 5th.
- Shannon Parrau got on the podium in the 3 meter dive earning a silver medal with her score of 294.10.
On Deck:
Day three of the CAA Conference Championships will see the 100-yard butterfly, 400-yard IM, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke, men's 3-meter diving and the 200-yard freestyle all take place. Swimming prelims begin at 10 a.m., diving prelims take place at 12:30 pm. With finals taking place at 6 p.m.
