TOWSON, Md. – Towson University field hockey coach
Katie Gerzabek Salem has announced the signings of Bailey Masten and Pearl Gunther as the first two members of the 2025 class.
Masten hails from Milford, Delaware where she played both field hockey and lacrosse for the Milford High School Buccaneers. A midfielder who can play on both sides of the field, Masten was named captain her junior and senior seasons. She was named to the all-conference second team as a freshman and to the all-conference and all-state first teams for her final three seasons. Masten was also the captain of the lacrosse team for her sophomore-senior season where she was a three-time honorable mention.
"We are so excited to add Bailey to our Tiger family! Bailey's athleticism, speed, and desire to compete day in and day out will be a great addition to our squad. As a multi-sport athlete in high school, Bailey's experience playing lacrosse helps her with her defensive awareness and we can't wait to see her bring that to Towson," added Coach Gerzabek Salem.
Gunther is a Sykesville, Maryland native who played in the midfield for Mount de Sales Academy. A four year varsity starter for the Sailors, she was named team captain for her junior and senior seasons and was a two-time Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM) All-A Conference member. Gunther received the Coaches award her junior year and was on Mount de Sales outdoor track & field team.
"We are excited to bring an in-state Talent here to Towson," Coach Gerzabek Salem stated. "Pearl's quick hands and ability to earn outcomes in tight spaces will be a great addition to our attack. As a 2x captain at Mount de Sales, Pearl can help spread her competitive desire and help push herself and others to achieve our goals as a program. We can't wait to add Pearl to the family!"
