TOWSON, Md. – The big victory for the Towson University men's lacrosse team over Delaware earned the Tigers two Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) weekly awards, announced by the league on Monday.
Mikey Weisshaar is the CAA Co-Player of the Week while
Ronan Fitzpatrick is the CAA Rookie of the Week. Both earning a league weekly award is symbolic of their achievement in the game, becoming the first Towson duo to each have six goals in a single game in the program's DI era.
Weisshaar earns his first-ever CAA Player of the Week honor while Fitzpatrick picks up his third CAA Rookie of the Week award this season.
The duo greatly aided Towson defeating Delaware 19-18 in overtime on Saturday to begin league play.
Weisshaar put up his first-ever six goal performance, including scoring the game-winning goal in overtime. The junior attack added an assist, three ground balls plus a pair of caused turnovers on the Towson ride. Weisshaar shared the co-player honor with Brendan Thomas of Delaware.
Fitzpatrick also earned a career-high six goals, including scoring the game-tying goal with 29 seconds left in regulation to force overtime. His other five goals game in the first half, tallying half of Towson's first half goals.
The Tigers continue CAA play on Saturday, March 22, hosting Stony Brook at noon. Tickets are available at
