Orlando, Fla. - The Towson University track & field team opens its 2025 outdoor season at the Black & Gold Invitational, hosted by the University of Central Florida in Orlando on Mar. 21 and 22.

New Additions
Following the conclusion of her final season,
Piper Jons has joined Towson Athletics as a Student Assistant Coach for the track & field program. Jons arrives at Towson after an exceptional graduate season, during which she set four new program records and secured multiple all-time marks. Her impact at Towson followed a successful collegiate career at Elon, where she competed from spring 2021 to spring 2024 and earned Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) All-Honors each year.
Indoor Season Recap
The Tigers capped their indoor postseason by claiming the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship title for the third time in program history. Towson's first-place finish was fueled by multiple all-time marks and two new school records, totaling 84 points.
Leeann Redlo cleared 1.80m on her first attempt to set the program record in the high jump and take first place.
Piper Jons,
Cristal Cuervo,
Jasmine Scott and
Maya Tucker also set a school record in the 4x400m relay final with a combined time of 3:39.97, clinching the win for the Tigers. Jons was named the Most Outstanding Performer of the Championship after setting an ECAC record in the 200m final and placing first in both the 400m and 4x400m relay finals.
At the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Championships, the Tigers secured a sixth-place finish. Redlo set a personal best in the pentathlon with a score of 3567, earning second place and CAA All-Honors. Jons set both CAA and Towson records in the 200m (23.20) and 400m (52.31). Jons and Redlo swept the MVP honors, with Jons named Most Outstanding Track Performer and Redlo named Most Outstanding Field Performer of the meet. Cuervo was also recognized by her home country of Panama for setting a national record in the 200m at the CAA Championships with a time of 23.68. During the regular season, Towson set six new school records, achieved over 20 all-time marks, and collected numerous personal bests.
