TOWSON, Md. – Four Towson University baseball players have earned Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) honors following the 2025 season, announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
Brian Heckelman,
Nate Nabholz,
Max D'Alessandro and
Nich Francuzenko all received accolades.
Brian Heckelman earned a First Team All-CAA nod behind the dish, making him the first Tiger to earn a first team distinction since
Brady Policelli in 2016. The Mineola, N.Y. native led the Tigers with a .365 batting average, 62 hits, 42 runs batted in and 20 extra-base hits in 53 games this season.
Heckelman's marks in on-base percentage (.442), slugging percentage (.588) and OPS (1.030) also paced Tiger hitters. On the base paths, the catcher caught runners stealing at a 29.5% (18-61) rate.
Nate Nabholz was named a Second Team All-CAA selection as a relief pitcher after finishing the year with a team-leading 3.05 ERA in 19 appearances out of the bullpen. The Cressona, Pa. native tied for the team lead with four winning decisions and added two saves. In 44.1 innings pitched, the right-hander struck out 39 batters faced and walked just ten, making him the team leader in strikeout-to-walk ratio. From March 29 to May 2,
Nabholz had a 17.1 innings scoreless stretch vs. CAA opponents and struck out 13 batters.
Max D'Alessandro earned an All-CAA Honorable Mention nod in the outfield after batting .312 with 35 runs scored, 18 extra base hits and 34 RBI's in 48 games played. The Mount Laurel, N.J. native led the team with nine home runs, posting a .529 slugging percentage and .927 OPS.
D'Alessandro was perfect as a base runner, going five for five on stolen bases this season.
Nich Francuzenko was named to the CAA All-Rookie Team after batting .309 with 29 runs scored, 11 extra base hits and 22 RBI's in 44 games played this season. Among players with more than 50 at-bats, the freshman was one of two Tigers who finished with an on-base percentage over .400. His final on-base percentage of .417, along with a .449 slugging percentage, made for an .866 OPS in his first collegiate baseball season. Defensively,
Francuzenko posted a .981 fielding percentage.
This is now the third-consecutive season the Tigers have placed a rookie on the CAA All-Rookie Team after
Taye Robinson and
Casey Bishop earned the distinction in the last two seasons, respectively.
