TOWSON, Md. – Towson University Field Hockey head coach
Katie Gerzabek Salem has announced the signing of Ella Jefferson on Wednesday. Jefferson is the second to join the Tigers from the transfer portal for the 2026 class.
"We are so excited to have Ella join our Tiger Field Hockey family!" Coach Gerzabek Salem stated, "An extremely dynamic athlete, Ella will bring a great amount of speed and tenacity to our attacking unit. Her quickness and intensity will impact both sides of the game, and we are excited to have that versatility on our team. Her love for Towson and passion for being a part of this program was evident throughout the recruiting process, and we can't wait to welcome her home to Towson!"
Ella Jefferson is a forward and midfielder who will join Towson this spring after spending her freshmen season at James Madison where she appeared in four games. Hailing from Ocean View, New Jersey, Jefferson was named the top player in New Jersey in the 2025 high school class in 2022 and 2024 by NJ.com. Playing for Ocean City High School, she was a two-time Cape Atlantic League All Star and was on the 2023 Cape Atlantic League American Division First Team. Jefferson also won a 2022 Cape-Atlantic League Championship with the Red Raiders.
"I chose Towson Field Hockey because the team and coaches immediately made me feel at home before I was even a part of the team." Jefferson said, "The culture of the team is exactly what I want, and everyone is so supportive and welcoming of me as a transfer and as a person in general."
