Towson Women’s Lacrosse Selected Third in CAA Preseason Poll, Four Tigers Earn Preseason CAA Honors

TOWSON, Md. - The Towson University women's lacrosse team had four players earn Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Preseason honors, as announced by the league on Thursday. Senior Valerie Thompson and junior Katie Roszko were named to the Preseason All-CAA Team, while senior Ocea Leavy and sophomore Jenna Cardeno earned honorable mention recognition.

Under Kristen Carr's third season as the program's head coach, Towson was voted to finish third in the preseason coaches' poll after accumulating 33 points.

Defending conference champion Stony Brook was selected as the preseason favorite after receiving seven first-place votes. Stony Brook's Isabella Caporuscio was named the CAA Preseason Player of the Year.

Thompson started all 16 games last season at midfield, tying for second on the team with 30 goals. The senior added nine assists, 21 ground balls, 42 draw controls and 10 caused turnovers, leading the Tigers in nine games with multiple goals.

Roszko, a 2024 CAA All-Rookie Team selection, also started all 16 games at midfield. She led Towson in assists (22) and tied for second on the team in goals (30), while adding 14 ground balls and 17 draw controls. The junior recorded multiple points in 14 games, highlighted by five five-point performances and five hat tricks.

Leavy, a two-way midfielder, started all 16 contests and totaled 21 goals, six assists, 17 ground balls and three caused turnovers. The senior posted six multi-goal games and scored in Towson's first and final five games of the season.

Cardeno earned 2025 CAA All-Rookie Team honors after being named CAA Rookie of the Week four times and served as Towson's starting goalkeeper in all 16 games. The sophomore finished the season with a 46.2 save percentage, a 12.31 goals-against average and seven wins. Cardeno opened the season with a 59.1 save percentage over the first three games, including a career-high 16 saves (64%) in an overtime victory against Georgetown on Feb. 13.
