TOWSON, Md. - Baara Stewart continues to stand out in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA), as the junior picked up weekly honors for the fourth time this season as announced by the league on Tuesday.
Stewart's latest recognition follows an impressive showing at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational last weekend, where she helped reset two Towson program records. In the 800m, Stewart broke her own school record for the second time in two weeks, clocking 2:09.67 to place second overall at the meet. She originally set the record at the Penn State Nationals after posting a time of 2:10.08. Prior to Stewart, the record had been held by Maureen Shaneman since 1988.
Stewart also contributed to a new program record in the distance medley relay (DMR), teaming up with Anna Amato, Spencer Settle and Layla James. The Tigers posted a combined time of 11:48.91 to finish second at the meet and surpass the previous school record by nearly 11 seconds.
With her latest marks, Stewart has now reset five Towson program records in a single season.
Towson returns to action this weekend in Boston, Massachusetts competing at the CAA Championships from February 22-23 to close out the indoor season.
