Gerzabek Salem Announces Signing of Jillian Labar

TOWSON, Md. – Towson University Field Hockey head coach Katie Gerzabek Salem has announced the signing of Jillian Labar on Wednesday. Labar becomes the eighth overall recruit and fourth rookie in the Tiger's 2026 class.

"The moment I saw Jillian's speed on and off the ball, I knew I wanted her to be in a Tiger uniform." Coach Gerzabek Salem announced, "Her goal scoring ability and her go for it mentality will be a great addition to our forward line. We are so excited to bring Jill into our Towson field hockey family and look forward to seeing her impact to our program."

Jillian Labar joins the Tigers from Phillipsburg, New Jersey where she played for Belvidere High School and the NJ Starz. In her high school career Labar amassed a Belvidere record 111 goals and 243 career points. She won a Skyland Conference Valley Division Championship with the County Seaters and was a one-time Third Team All-State Group One. Labar was also a three-time First Team Skyland Conference, three-time First Team All-County, and a three-time First Team All-North Jersey. In club hockey the forward twice led her team to first place finishes in pool play at the U19 level.

"When I was looking at colleges, I was interested in finding a place that would allow me to grow as an athlete and a student. When I spoke to Coach Katie and Coach Noelle, it was obvious that Towson field hockey was a program that treated their players like family." Labar said, "they were open and honest with me about the program and expectations which made me feel comfortable and supported. I could tell that they genuinely cared about my future on and off the field. Another factor was Towson's academic offerings. They have the major I am interested in and that was a key part to why I chose to commit. Towson University feels like the right place for me as I begin this next journey."
