TOWSON, Md. – Towson University Field Hockey head coach
Katie Gerzabek Salem has announced the signing of Olivia Thunnissen on Wednesday. Thunnissen is the third freshman and sixth overall recruit in the 2026 class.
"We are thrilled to welcome Olivia to our program! Coming to us from the Netherlands, Olivia has a strong hockey background and high hockey IQ which will continue to help us elevate as a program." Coach Gerzabek Salem stated, "Her awareness & vision on and off the ball, her pace and her technical skill execution at speed will be a great addition to our midfield unit. We can't wait to get her on campus this Fall!"
Olivia Thunnissen hails from Apeldoorn, The Netherlands where she went to school at Veluws College Walterbosch and played club field hockey for Apeldoornse Mixed Hockey Club (AMHC). In her time with AMHC, Thunnissen became a three-time Subtop Klasse champion and a four-time qualifier for the Dutch National Indoor Championship. She also twice won the JIPHT International Easter Tournament in three trips to the finals. Thunnissen also was invited to participate in the Dutch U15 National Team selection camp.
