Gerzabek Salem Announces Signing of Katie Compton

TOWSON, Md. – Towson University Field Hockey head coach Katie Gerzabek Salem has announced the signing of Katie Compton Wednesday afternoon. Compton is the first high school recruit of the 2026 class.
 
 
"We are thrilled to be adding Katie to the Towson Field Hockey family." Coach Gerzabek Salem announced, "A New Jersey All-State Selection, Katie's tenacity, grit and pride she shows when she plays were all things that drew us to her as an athlete. Her vision of the field and her aggression defensively will be great additions to our backline. We look forward to welcoming her this Fall!"
 
Katie Compton is a defender hailing from Hackettstown, New Jersey and Warren Hills Regional High School with whom she won a 2024 county championship. In her four seasons with the Blue Streaks, Compton was a two-time Third Team All-State, two-time First Team All-North Jersey-Group 2, two-time First Team All-County, and two-time First Team All-Conference selection. She also ran track for Warren Hills Regional where she helped set the school record in the 4x100 meter relay. Playing club for NJ Starz, Compton has competed in the USA Field Hockey National Indoor Tournament every year since 2017 and won the tournament at the U14, U16, and U19 levels.
 
 
"I chose Towson because of the great mix of academics and athletics. I knew the first time that I stepped on campus that it was my home." Compton said, "They offer so many different possibilities and challenge their students academically. Coach Katie and Coach Noelle have built such a tough and hard-working program that I am so excited to be a part of."
