Gerzabek Salem Announces Signing of Maddie Patton

TOWSON, Md. – Towson University Field Hockey head coach Katie Gerzabek Salem has announced the signing of Maddie Patton on Wednesday. Patton becomes the third transfer portal addition of the 2026 class.

"We look forward to adding Maddie to our program this Spring" Coach Gerzabek Salem stated, "She gained valuable experience at Bellarmine, playing significant minutes, starting 17 of 18 games as a freshman for the Knights and brings a proven goal-scoring mindset to our attacking unit. With 108 goals in her high school career, she has a natural ability to find the back of the net, and we are looking forward to see what she'll add to our offensive unit. We can't wait to have Maddie as a Tiger!"

Maddie Patton is a forward and midfielder who joins the Tigers after spending her rookie season with Bellarmine. Patton started 17 games for the Knights in the fall and tied for the team lead in goals. The Fredericksburg, Virginia native played for Stafford Senior High where she set the school record for career goals with 108 and helped lead the Indians to four district championships and a pair of regional championships. Individually Patton was All-District, All-Region, All-State, and All-Area First Team from 2022-24 and was named District and Region Player of the Year in 2024.

"I chose Towson because of the team culture and competitive program. Towson stood out to me academically and athletically and is a school where I can see myself growing as a player and person." Patton said, "I fell in love with the campus, the coaching staff, and the strong sense of community. Towson also stood out to me academically, offering a great program for my intended major, while competing at a high level athletically. Being only 2 hours from my hometown this made my decision even more special, because it allows me to stay close to family while pursuing my dreams."
