TOWSON, Md. – Towson University Field Hockey head coach
Katie Gerzabek Salem has announced the signing of Josefina Sayal on Wednesday. The transfer portal addition is the first signing of the 2026 class.

Coach Gerzabek Salem stated, "She is a skilled and extremely intelligent hockey player who brings a strong work ethic and competitive mindset to TU. Josefina's ability to impact the game and her commitment to development make her a great fit for our culture. We look forward to working with her this Spring and are thrilled to have her as a part of our program."
Sayal is a defender who arrives at Towson after spending her first two collegiate seasons with Saint Francis. After appearing in 18 games as a freshman, she started all 19 games and recorded three assists during her sophomore season, helping the Red Flash win 14 games and qualify for the 2025 NEC Tournament. The rising junior hails from Buenos Aires, Argentina where she played for Club Universitario de La Plata with whom she won the championship of the fifth division of the Buenos Aires Hockey Association.
"I chose Towson's field hockey program because I love how competitive it is, the effort and determination the players and coaches put every day." Sayal said "Also, as an international student athlete I really appreciate the strong support system the program has to offer to players from other countries, especially when they are far from home."
