Four Tigers Earn CAA Postseason Honors

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University field hockey team saw four players receive Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) honors, announced by the CAA on Thursday. Anouk Westerink makes the All-CAA First Team for the second straight season, Rosemarie Staal and Tessa Scheenstra are on the All-CAA Second Team, Staal and Bailey Masten were named to the CAA All-Rookie Team.
 
After becoming the first Towson freshman and fifth Towson player ever to make the All-CAA First Team her rookie season, Westerink is now the first to do so in her first two seasons as a Tiger and is one of three Towson players to ever earn first team distinction twice. Playing as a midfielder, the Ede, Netherlands native started every game for the second straight season and finished the season with nine points and tied for the team high with four goals.
 
In her first collegiate field hockey season Rosemarie Staal becomes the third Towson rookie to earn All-Rookie and All-CAA distinction after Westerink in 2024 and Tess Okkerse in 2019. The Briltil, Netherlands native started every game in the midfield for Towson and paced the Tigers with 11 points while tying for the team lead with four goals. Staal was fourth among CAA rookies in points and is the first Towson rookie to lead the team in points since Samantha Aljets in 2019.
 
Tessa Scheenstra started every game in goal for Towson for the third straight and wrapped up her senior season having played in every game that has taken place in her four years as a Tiger. Scheenstra sits seventh in Towson history with 420 saves and her 114 saves this season was second in the CAA. The Voorburg, Netherlands native received preseason all-conference honors before this season, was CAA Defensive Player of the Week in September, and now earns her first career All-CAA nod.
 
Bailey Masten's All-Rookie selection makes it the second straight season, and third season ever, Towson has had multiple members of the CAA All-Rookie team. The Milford, Delaware native played in every game as a forward and midfielder and made 14 starts her freshman season. Masten got her first career point in her first career game with an assist in Towson's season opener against Appalachian State. She scored her first career goal against Lock Haven on September 5.
