TOWSON, Md. – Matt Nilan's strong performance in goal on Saturday has earned him his third Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Defensive Player of the Week award, announced by the league on Monday.
 
Nilan also was the CAA Defensive Player of the Week on Feb. 16 and March 9.  He is one of two players in the league to be the CAA Defensive Player of the Week three times this year.
 
The redshirt junior goalkeeper helped Towson win at Fairfield 12-5 on Saturday to secure a share of the CAA regular season title.  Nilan had a 73.6% save rate, stopping 14 of Fairfield's 19 shots on goal, including holding the Stags to no goals in the first quarter and just two in the first half.
 
Nilan leads the CAA with a 54.3% save rate, having a 11.50 goals allowed average in 12 games played.
