TOWSON, Md. – Towson's University's
Joaquin Villagomez and
Matt Nilan each earned Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) weekly honors as the regular season came to a close.
Villagomez is the CAA Offensive Player of the Week while Nilan is the CAA Defensive Player of the Week. Each wins his respective award for the fourth time this season.
The duo helped Towson crush Hofstra 20-3 on Saturday to secure the program's third consecutive undefeated CAA regular season. Towson enters the CAA Tournament as the 1-seed.
Villagomez earned Towson's first 10-point day since 2013, tallying up five goals and five assists on the day. The redshirt junior attack had a hat trick in the opening 10 minutes of the game and assisted
Mikey Weisshaar's final two goals to secure Weisshaar's program record 222 points in his career.
Nilan had another strong day in goal, allowing a season-low three goals in a full game and saving 10 shots for a 76.9% save rate. The redshirt junior goalkeeper earned his 10
th victory on Saturday, saving over 73% of shots the last two games.
The Tigers will host 4-seed Monmouth on Thursday, April 30 at 4 p.m. to begin the 2026 CAA Tournament at Unitas. Tickets for the tournament are available here:
