The Minnegan-Cole Society has been created to recognize the most distinguished supporters of Towson Athletics. It is only fitting that the society for TU Athletics' greatest benefactors bears the names of two of its most significant contributors to Tiger Athletics.
Donald “Doc” Minnegan was a teacher, coach, physical education department chairman and Director of Athletics at Towson for more than four decades. He arrived at Towson in 1927, and he coached its soccer team until 1966.
Doc's soccer teams were very successful, winning a total of 156 games, including a school record 34 straight. A member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame, he also coached Towson to championships in baseball, basketball, track and field and swimming.
B. Melvin Cole was a 1936 graduate of Towson and was a three-sport athlete who competed in basketball, cross country and soccer. He was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 1966 and just two years later received a Distinguished Alumni Award from Towson for his work in the Baltimore County Government. He served on several committees for the school including the Alumni Admissions Council and Alumni Association Board.
Through their private support, the Minnegan-Cole Society members provide the necessary resources for sustained success. For this leadership support society, members receive the ultimate in Towson Athletics benefits. Minnegan-Cole Society members demonstrate their commitment to Towson Athletics by contributing at or above $50,000 annually.
