Fairleigh Dickinson Defeats Tigers, 3-1

TEANECK, N.J. - Hoping to return to their winning ways, the Tigers (2-2) dropped a 3-1 non-conference decision against Fairleigh Dickinson (2-3) at the Knights' University Stadium on Friday evening.

After opening the year with two straight wins, the Tigers have dropped two straight games.

The Knights took a 1-0 lead less than six minutes into the second half when Samson Malijani scored his third goal of the season off assists from Dmitri Pelts and Van Reinecke. The Tigers quickly countered just 31 seconds later when senior midfielder Pat Healey scored his second goal of the season off an assist from sophomore Xavier Otero.

With 29:44 remaining in the second half, Pelts gave Fairleigh Dickinson a 2-1 edge when he scored his first goal of the season by converting passes from Malijani and Sergio Munoz.

Less than five minutes later, Malijani upped the Knights' edge to 3-1 when he converted a penalty kick past senior goalkeeper Billy Chiles.

Malijani led the Knights to the victory with two goals and an assist while Pelts added one assist. Goalkeeper Elvir Prasovic made four saves for the Knights, who outshot Towson by a 14-9 margin.

Chiles made six saves in the loss for the Tigers.
