NORFOLK, Va. ? Old Dominion's Alyschia Conn scored a goal in each half to lead the Lady Monarchs to a 2-0 victory over the Towson University field hockey team on Friday night. The Tigers (7-4, 1-2 CAA) dropped their second straight contest as they were shut out for the first time this season.
The Lady Monarchs got to work early as Conn scored her first goal just 1:01 into the game. The goal was unassisted off a scramble at the left post.
Old Dominion held the 1-0 lead at the half and was outshooting Towson 9-4 in the first 35 minutes.
The Lady Monarchs doubled their advantage in the 39th minute of the contest. This time on a penalty corner that led to a shot from the top of the circle. Conn was credited with the goal as Paige Clutter picked up the assist.
Old Dominion would turn the 2-0 advantage into the victory and ended the game with a 13-6 advantage in shots.
Sophomore Whitney Clugston tied her season-high with six saves in the contest. Kelly Driscoll made three saves to record the shut out.
The Tigers continue their road trip on Sunday, October 5 in Williamsburg, Virginia. Towson will take on William & Mary at 1 p.m.
