Casper Wells Honored By Eastern League

ERIE, Pa. - Erie SeaWolves outfielder Casper Wells has been named the Bank of America Eastern League Player of the Week for the week ending August 10th.

The 23-year old former Towson Tiger carried the SeaWolves' offense last week, batting .414 (12-for-29) with two doubles, one triple, five home runs, 13 runs scored, 11 RBI, three walks and a 1.069 slugging percentage while leading the team to a 6-1 record.

Wells, who is a native of Schenectady, N.Y., had three multiple hit games last week, including hitting three homers and driving in five runs in an 11-2 win against Harrisburg on Tuesday night.

The 6'2”, 210 lb. slugger is hitting .288 with 13 doubles, four triples, 12 home runs, 42 runs scored and 40 RBI in 56 games for the SeaWolves this season.

Casper, who was a Midwest League All-Star as a member of the West Michigan White Caps prior to receiving a promotion to Erie on June 6th, was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 14th round of the 2005 draft out of Towson University. He was the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year in 2005 after batting .362 with 18 home runs and 66 runs batted in.
