MONTPELIER, Va. - Junior Airielle Dawson tied for 15th to show the way for the Tigers who placed seventh in a field of 11 teams at the Tribe Invitational Golf Tournament hosted by William & Mary on the par 71 5,829-yard The Hollows.
Western Carolina captured the team trophy, holding off Morehead State 598-599 for a one-stroke victory. Towson was 41 shots back at 639.
Dawson paced the Tigers with a 155 (77-78) for a tie for 15th in the field of 57 golfers. The 155 is her best score for 36 holes this fall.
Elsewhere senior Elisabeth Herzfeld tied for 22nd with a 158 (81-77), freshman Casey VanDyke tied for 31st with a 162 (81-81) and Emily Kwak tied for 39th with a 168 (85-83). Junior Sara Eichelberger carded an opening round 81 but later withdrew.
Towson closes out the fall portion of its 2010-11 schedule November 1-2 at the Spider Invitational hosted by Richmond at the Independence Golf Club.
