Adams Is CAA Track Athlete of Week

TOWSON, Md. - Junior hurdler Ashley Adams (Plainfield, N.J./Plainfield H.S.) has picked up her second Colonial Athletic Association Track Athlete of the Week honor for this spring following last week's record-setting performance at the Penn Relays.

Adams, who holds every hurdles record at Towson, rewrote the 400 meter hurdles mark again with a time of 1:00.08 at Franklin Field. She also joined senior Rachel Jochem (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca H.S.), freshman Nicole Smith (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abingdon Heights H.S.) and senior Jill Meshey (Columbia, Pa./Columbia H.S.) on the 4x400 relay team to  run the opening leg in a program record time of 3:52.16.

A transfer from Morgan State and in her first year with the Tigers, Adams quickly set Towson's records in the 60 meter hurdles (8.58), 55 meter hurdles (8.07) and the 60 meter dash (7.84) indoors. In addition to the two outdoor records last weekend at the Penn Relays, she owns the 100 meter high hurdles mark at 13.55 and is part owner with Meshey, senior Vivian Nwachukwu (Bowie, Md./Bowie H.S.) and junior Mortara Okusaga (Germantown, Md./Northwest H.S.) in the 4x100 relay record of 47.32.
