Tigers Shut Down Radford For 1-0 Win

TOWSON, Md. - Tabi Hatch's first goal of the season lifted the Tigers to a 1-0 win over Radford (4-1) on Friday night in Johnny Unitas® Stadium. Towson (3-2) won its third straight game and recorded its second shutout in those three contests.

"It feels great to have a win streak," said Coach Michelle Webber. "I thought the players stepped up and did a great job holding off Radford throughout the game. Hopefully we can continue to capitalize on our opportunities in the upcoming games."

The first half was a tight contest as the two teams battled in the midfield for part of the half. Radford finished the half with a 5-2 advantage in shots and an 8-3 edge in penalty corners.

With just 10 minutes remaining in regulation, Towson got the go-ahead goal that would prove to be the game-winner. The Tigers were awarded a penalty corner and Hatch was able to bang the ball home. Robin Fencel and Katie DeFilippo got the assists on Hatch's tally.

That one goal would prove to be all goalie Whitney Clugston and the Tiger defense would need to seal the victory. Clugston finished with three saves to earn the win while the defense also recorded three defensive saves. Jennifer Wisniewski took the loss for Radford in goal. She made one save while being tagged with her first loss of the year.

Radford finished the game with an 8-6 edge in shots and an 11-6 advantage in corners. Towson made six saves to the Highlanders' one.

The Tigers continue their busy week when they travel to Bucknell on Sunday, September 12. The Tigers and Bison are set for a 1 p.m. start in Lewisburg.
