Tigers Fall at Drexel, 4-1

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Freshman Ashley Rivera scored her first career goal but it was not enough as the Towson University field hockey team fell at Drexel by a 4-1 score on Friday evening. Christina Siwiec made seven saves for the Tigers (5-5, 1-2 CAA) in the loss.

"We didn't have a great first half but I thought the team played better in the second half," said Coach Michelle Webber.

Drexel (8-3, 2-1 CAA) took an early lead in the contest as Christina Conrad scored an unassisted goal in the ninth minute of the game.

Towson tied the score at 1-1 in the 23rd minute as Rivera scored. Rivera is the 10th Tiger to score at least one goal this season.

The Dragons took a 2-1 lead at the half as Conrad struck for her second goal of the half in the 33rd minute.

Drexel outshot the Tigers 11-6 in the first half as Siwiec made six first-half saves.

The Dragons would extend their lead to 3-1 in the 41st minute as Ashley Santee scored off an assist from Conrad.

Amanda Fleischut provided the final margin of victory for the Dragons as she scored off an assist from Elizabeth Koch in the 52 minute.

The shots were even at five each in the second half as Drexel finished the game with a 16-11 advantage. The Dragons also finished the game with a 4-2 edge in penalty corners.
