Tessa Jarvis scored her first career goal but it was not enough as the Towson University field hockey team fell at St. Joseph's by a 4-1 score on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore
Megan Boyle made four saves for the Tigers (0-1).

St. Joseph (2-0) took an early lead in the contest as
Sarah Yerk capitalized with help from
Nicole Gerdes on a penalty corner in the eighth minute of the game.
Towson tied the score at 1-1 in the 22
nd minute as Jarvis scored the first Tiger goal of the season. Junior
Stacey Mackintosh picked up an assist on the play.
The Hawks outshot the Tigers 8-4 in the first half as Boyle made two first-half saves.
The Hawks took a 2-1 lead early in the second half as
Jordan Martin recorded an unassisted goal in the 43
rd minute.
St. Joseph's would extend their lead to 3-1 in the 62
nd minute as
Melissa Herd scored off an assist from
Kristen Moisey.
Gerdes provided the final margin of victory for the Hawks as she scored off an assist from
Katja Hansen and
Sara Kolobieski.
The Hawks continued to outshoot the Tigers 11-3 in the second half as St. Joseph's finished the game with a 19-7 advantage. The Hawks also finished the game with a 16-9 edge in penalty corners.
Amelia Deibler made four saves to earn the win in goal for the Hawks.
The Tigers return to action on September 6 as they visit Lock Haven for a 1 p.m. game before traveling to St. Francis (Pa.) for a 1 p.m. game on September 7.
