Opening Faceoff
Towson looks to bounce back from just its second loss of the season last weekend at the hands of Delaware. The Tigers will look to regain control of homefield advantage for the CAA against league-leading Fairfield (3-0). It will be the first-ever meeting between the Tigers and Stags at Johnny Unitas Stadium, where Towson is 7-1 this season.
In The National Rankings
Following last weekend's loss, Towson slipped in the polls, but remained in the top 10 of the Nike Lacrosse/USILA Coaches' Poll (10), while sitting at 12th in the Cascade/Maverik Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and 11th in this week's Nike Lacrosse/Lacrosse Magazine Top 20.
Updating the 2016 Tigers
Towson's potent offense was stymied last weekend as the Tigers were held to single digits for the first time in five games. The offense is led by junior Ryan Drenner (39 points), who has 21 goals and 18 helpers. Junior Joe Seider leads Towson with 24 goals while seniors Spencer Parks (15g, 12a) and redshirt Ben McCarty (14g, 6a) are also in the 20-point club. Junior Mike Lynch (10g, 7a) is on cusp of joining that group and is one of nine Tigers with double digit points. Defensively, Towson continues its strong play, allowing double-digits for just the second time this season against Delaware. Starting seniors Nick Gorman, Mike Lowe and Andrew Cordes have combined for 27 of Towson's 81 caused turnovers. Redshirt senior Tyler White leads the conference in goals against average (6.86) along with 96 saves and a 10-2 record this year. Faceoffs will be worth watching on Saturday. Starter Alec Burckley is 100-185 while sophomore Steven Stillwell is 26-49, including 11-of-17 against Delaware.
Scouting The Stags
Fairfield's offense runs through freshman Colin Burke, who has been named CAA Rookie of the Week five times. Burke has a team-high 44 points on 32 goals and 12 assists. Charlie Schnider is second with nine goals and team-best 27 assists (36 points). TJ Neubauer has 29 points (27g, 2a) while Charlie Horning is the only other Stag with 20+ points (8g, 12a). Riley Peters is Fairfield's top faceoff man, winning 105 of his 199 chances (52.8 percent). Tyler Behring has logged all but 17 minutes in the rack for the Stags, carrying a 9.59 goals against average and has made 159 saves at a 56.6 percent clip. Fairfield allows 38.0 shots per game this season, with 287 of the 494 shots allowed finding the frame.
Towson-Fairfield History
Opposite of last week's game, the 57th meeting between Towson and Delaware, this Saturday's game will be just the second-ever meeting between Towson and Fairfield. In a top-20 matchup in Connecticut last season, No. 16 Towson snagged an 8-7 victory over the No. 20 host Stags. Today's game is Fairfield's first-ever trip to Johnny Unitas Stadium as the Stags are in their second season as an associate member of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). Towson has played three times at Fairfield's Rafferty Stadium, going 3-0 last year, including the 2015 CAA Championship game over UMass.

Last Time Out vs. Fairfield
In the first-ever meeting between Towson and Fairfield, the Tigers got markers from seven different sources en route to an 8-7 victory in a top-20 battle at Rafferty Stadium. The since-graduated Max Siskind logged two goals, while his classmate Justin Mabus posted a goal along with one assist. Current junior Ryan Drenner finished with two points on one goal and one assist, as did current redshirt senior Ben McCarty. Starting attackman and current senior Spencer Parks had two helpers in the win, while 2016 juniors Joe Seider, Mike Lynch and Tyler Konen each had one goal. Junior FOGO Alec Burckley won eight of his 12 draws, while senior Pat Conroy and sophomore Steven Stillwell combined to go three-for-seven when Burckley was out with an upperbody injury in the game. Then a redshirt junior, Tyler White made 12 saves in the Tiger's third CAA victory of the 2015 campaign.
With a Win Saturday
- Towson would improve to 3-1 in the CAA for the second-straight season. Towson opened last season with a 3-0 mark in the conference before suffering a home loss against Drexel. It would be the second time in Shawn Nadelen's tenure Towson gets to 3-1 in conference play, joining the 2014 campaign.
- Towson would improve to 2-0 against the Stags and hold a 1-0 mark at home against Fairfield.
- The Tigers would improve to 11-2 on the season, matching the best start in program history since the 1990 season. The 1990 Tigers finished with an 11-2 record.
- Guarantee the Tigers their second-straight winning season in CAA play and the third in the last four years.
- The Tigers would improved to 8-1 on the season at home. That would match the most wins on home turf since the 2004 season when the Tigers went 8-2 at home.
- Towson would move back to the top of the CAA standings and remain in the hunt for the 2016 CAA Regular Season Championship and the right to host the 2016 CAA Tournament.
Honoring the Class of 2016
Prior to today's game, the Towson coaching and support staff will honor the team's eight seniors: Tyler White (GK), Nick Gorman (D), Spencer Parks (A), Dan Carder (SSDM), Ben McCarty (M), Mike Lowe (D), Pat Conroy (LSM) and Andrew Cordes (D). A vastly experienced group, this year's seniors have played in a combined 364 career games for the Black & Gold. With two redshirts, McCarty and White, this year's senior class has been on the roster for the entirety of Shawn Nadelen's tenure as head coach. Including the 2012 season, this senior class has a combined record of 47-31 since stepping on the field at Unitas Stadium. Those seasons including three with at least 10 wins, two CAA Championships (2013, 2015), two NCAA Tournament appearances (2013, 2015), five CAA Tournament berths and have played in 30 combined games as a team ranked in the top 20 of the USILA Coaches' Poll. This year's class includes two of the three captains for the 2016 season: White and two-time team captain McCarty.
Joseph Ferrante Memorial Scholarship
Prior to Saturday's Senior Day recognition, the program will present the Joseph Ferrante Scholarship to a current junior who will return for his senior campaign in 2017.
The Joseph Ferrante Memorial Scholarship is presented to a junior lacrosse student-athlete in memory of Joseph Ferrante, the unsung hero of the 1974 Division II National Championship Team. The Joseph Ferrante Memorial Scholarship was established by the brothers of the Alpha Omega Lamda fraternity. The winner of this year's Joseph Ferrante Memorial Scholarship will be announced prior to the game. Last year's recipient was Dan Carder.
Coming up on 100
A pair of Tigers have the potential to reach the 100-point mark in Saturday's contest. Juniors Ryan Drenner and Joe Seider, both starting attackman, have 96 points in their respective careers. A balanced point getter, Drenner has 50 career goals along with 46 helpers while linemate Seider, a noted goal scorer, has 81 markers with 15 assists. Seider is just eight goals from joining the Tigers' career top 10 list, chasing the 89 goals scored by Bobby Griebe (2004-07) and Tom Wagner (1976-79).
Bouncing Back
During Shawn Nadelen's tenure at Towson, the Tigers have allowed double-digit goals in just 26 of his 78 career games coached, including last weekend's contest. Towson is 13-12 since 2012 following a game when it allows opponents double-digit markers. After allowing double digits, the defense has buckled down in the ensuing game; Towson has allowed opponents double digits just nine times after allowing 10+ in the previous game. Since taking over the program in 2012, Nadelen holds a 16-14 mark following a loss. Towson won its next game 10-9 at Ohio State following a 14-8 loss at No. 11 Johns Hopkins earlier this season.
At Home as a Top 10 - As of April 16
On March 19, Towson played its first game at Johnny Unitas ® Stadium as a top-10 program for the first time since May 14, 2005 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against No. 5 Cornell. The Big Red won that game 12-11, but the Tigers have won more games at home as a top-10 team. Towson is now 26-19 at home as a top-10 team, dating back to the 1980 season when Towson elevated to Division I, following last week's 10-7 loss against Delaware. Saturday's game will be the fourth time Towson plays at home as a top-10 team at Unitas Stadium this season. The Tigers are 2-1 at home in the top 10 this season. It is the most home games at home as a top-10 team since the 2001 campaign when the Tigers played five home games ranked so highly, going 4-1 during that season at home as a top-10 team.
25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30...
Redshirt senior goalie Tyler White logged his 30th career win on April 9 in an 11-8 victory over CAA rival UMass. He is now has the most for a Tiger keeper in the CAA Era.

His 30 wins trail only UMass's Tim McCormack's 33, and Drexel's Mark Manos and Bruce Bickford, who had 33 and 31, respectively. A win Saturday for White would tie him for the third-most wins in the CAA's lacrosse era.

Tim McCormack (UMass) - 33 (2010-12)

In it for the Long Haul - Updated
The Tigers' game at Ohio State was the farthest the Tigers will travel in the 2016 regular season. Towson flew out that Monday for Columbus and returned to Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport on Wednesday. Johnny Unitas Stadium, home of the Tigers, sits roughly 415 miles from Ohio Stadium, the site of the March 15 contest. The trip was roughly 830 round-trip miles. On April 9, Towson traveled 356 miles to Amherst, Massachusetts to take on the Minutemen at Garber Field. The Tigers round out the regular season on April 30 at Shuart Stadium, home of the Hofstra Pride, a trip of 215 miles. Those two April games are the only CAA road trips for Towson this season.
Parks Named CAA Player of the Week (4/15)
After a four-point week where he scored his second hat trick of the season and added an assist to his day, senior attackman Spencer Parks was named CAA Player of the Week. His 16 faceoff wins were the second most for a Tiger in the Shawn Nadelen era (2012), just one behind Ian Mill's mark of 17.

At that point, White and his defense had not allowed an opponent to score double digits this season.
Local Market
This year, Towson has 14 games on its regular season slate. Of those 14 games, nine will be played at Johnny Unitas Stadium. Towson did not have to travel far for two of its five road games as the Tigers traveled down the road to Loyola (March 2) and Johns Hopkins (March 12). However, what the Tigers gain in local games, they make up for in true road games, covering roughly 2,000 miles going to Ohio State (March 15), Massachusetts (April 9) and Hofstra (April 30).
Local Market Part Deux
While it's not uncommon at all for the Tigers to face all three of the local institutions in the same season, this year's edition of the Battle for Greater Baltimore had a unique twist: Towson played all three schools in consecutive games. The Tigers went to Loyola on March 2, hosted UMBC on March 5 and then traveled down Charles Street to Johns Hopkins on March 12.
Kirby Named CAA Rookie of the Week (2/23)
After a two-goal game against Mount St. Mary's, redshirt freshman Ian Kirby was named CAA Rookie of the Week (Feb. 23). Kirby took three shots in the Tigers' 9-5 win over in-state foe Mount St. Mary's, hitting for paydirt twice. Kirby has emerged as Towson's top man-up threat in the early goings, scoring three goals in his first two games, all on the extra-man.
Seider Named CAA Player of the Week (2/16)
The CAA office announced junior attackman Joe Seider as the Player of the Week (Feb. 16) in the first conference report of the season. Seider is the first Tiger to win a weekly award in the first report since he was tabbed Rookie of the Week during the 2014 season. In the Tigers' 11-2 win over Mercer, Seider finished with four points on three goals and one assist. He paced the game with 11 shots while helping Towson to double digits for the fifth time in Towson's last six games, dating back to last season.
White Named to Tewaaraton Trophy, Presented by Under Armour, Watch List
Redshirt senior goalie Tyler White was one of 50 NCAA Men's Lacrosse student-athletes named to a Watch List for the sports highest honor: The Tewaaraton Trophy, presented by Under Armour. The announcement was made in the evening of Feb. 23. White was one of two CAA players named to the watch list as he was joined by Hofstra's Sam Llinares. The Tigers have had three different players in the Shawn Nadelen era (since 2012) to be named to the Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List. Last season Andrew Hodgson was named while former standout Thomas DeNapoli was named twice (2013, 2014).
Preseason Nods
Redshirt senior goalie Tyler White earned several preseason accolades, including Honorable Mention All-America by Inside Lacrosse. The Elmira Heights, New York native was also named to the Preseason All-CAA Team, along with junior attackman Joe Seider. Ryan Drenner, Mike Lowe and Tyler Mayes all earned Honorable Mention Preseason All-CAA plaudits.
