Palacios Adds Freshman All-America Honor from Baseball America

DURHAM, N.C. – Towson second baseman Richie Palacios took home his third Freshman All-America honor when he was named a Second-Team Freshman All-American by Baseball America.

Earlier this summer, Palacios was named a First-Team Freshman All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

Palacios closed out his record-setting freshman season by hitting .329 with six doubles, five triples, six home runs and 38 RBIs.  He set a new school freshman record with 74 hits, while also scoring 55 runs.

The speedy leadoff hitter also established a new single-season record at Towson with 32 stolen bases.  He ranks second nationally among freshman in stolen bases.

He is spending the summer by playing for the North Fork Ospreys of the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League.
