TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's golf team enjoyed another memorable afternoon on the course highlighted by a few more school records during the first day of the Pinehurst Challenge Monday afternoon.
Fueled by
Alix Lowe's program record four-under 68 in the first round, the Tigers carded a 287 to establish a new school standard for the lowest 18-hole round. Towson fired a 297 in the second round to set a new school mark for the lowest 36-hole round in program history. After two rounds, Towson is eighth place after shooting a 584.
Continuing its ferocious assault on the school record book, Towson has shot below 300 in five consecutive rounds. It's just an amazing stretch of focused, disciplined and confident golf for the Tigers, who are getting contributions from everybody.

Quotable
Lowe, who ate chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast, on breaking another school record.
"It was a really cool feeling to be able to shoot 68 because for a while I've been struggling to go lower than even. All I ever wanted was to be in red numbers and I'm happy I finally did. Contributing to our new team record is awesome. I am so extremely proud of how far this team has come because I remember we'd be getting ice cream for breaking 300 and now were breaking it like its nothing."
Lowe on what worked for her Monday.
"Everything was working for me today. Of course, it could've been better but I'm pretty happy that my mistakes and missed shots were very limited today. It's relieving to have so much support from my teammates. I think the way our team is getting along with each other is really helping us shoot these scores because we are all happy, cheering each other on and pushing each other at practice. It's been a great year so far."
