TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's tennis team earned a 6-1 win over Longwood on Tuesday afternoon in windy conditions. The match served as the Tigers' home opener on the Towson Center Courts.

How it Happened (Doubles Play)
- Towson started the match off strong, winning the opening doubles point. It was the first time in two matches that the Tigers have claimed the doubles point.
- At the top doubles flight, A.J. Gomer and Renate van Oorschodt defeated Fallon Burger and Jamie Breunig, 6-3.
- Towson's No. 3 doubles team of Nicole Shakhnazarova and Lucy Gloninger earned a 6-3 win over Mason Thomas and Anna Pelak.
- Longwood claimed a doubles win at the No. 2 flight as Paloma Alatorre and Marija Venta bested Lucy Williams and Yevgeniya Shusterman, 6-0.

How it Happened (Singles Play)
- Towson carried the momentum of the doubles victory into singles play, winning five of the six matches. Four of the Tigers' wins came in straight sets.
- At the No. 1 singles spot, Nicole Shakhnazarova earned a hard fought 6-4, 6-3 win over Jamie Breunig.
- A.J Gomer earned an impressive 6-1, 6-1 win over Marija Venta at the second singles flight.
- At No. 3 singles, Lucy Williams defeated Paloma Alatorre, 6-1, 6-4.
- Barbora Vasilkova posted a 6-4, 6-1 win against Mason Thomas at the No. 4 singles spot. At the sixth singles flight, Lucy Gloninger hung on for a super tiebreaker win over Fallon Burger. Gloninger won the first set 6-3 before Burger claimed the second set by the same score. In the tiebreaker, Gloninger bested Burger 10-5 for the win.
- Longwood's lone point came at No. 5 singles as Anna Pelak defeated Renate van Oorschodt in three sets. van Oorschodt won the first set 6-2 but fell in the second set, 6-3 and dropped the close tiebreaker, 10-7.

Behind the Scores
- Barbora Vasilkova extended her singles win streak to seven matches with the victory over Mason Thomas. She is now 6-1 on the season at the fourth singles flight.
- Lucy Gloninger also won her seventh-straight singles match with the win over Fallon Burger. She improves to 3-0 at the No. 6 spot and a perfect 5-0 in dual matches this season.
- Nicole Shakhnazarova improved to 7-2 on the season at the top singles flight. She extended her singles win streak to five matches with the win over Jamie Bruenig.
- Towson claimed the opening doubles point to end a two-match losing streak in doubles play. The Tigers are 5-1 on the season when winning the opening doubles point. Towson's only match loss when winning the doubles point came against Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) rival Elon.

Towson will have two weeks off before traveling to Florida for its spring break trip. The Tigers will play at Florida International University on March 20 and Florida Atlantic University on March 22.
