HARRISONBURG, Va. –The Towson University women's tennis team travels south to Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) rival James Madison on April 8. The Tigers will be looking to rebound after a 4-3 heartbreaking loss at conference foe Delaware on Wednesday.
Match Details
The matchup between the Tigers and Dukes is scheduled for a noon start on Saturday. Action will begin with doubles, followed by singles play at the Hillside Courts. Updating the Tigers
Towson is coming off a tough 4-3 loss at conference foe Delaware on Wednesday. The Tigers dropped the opening doubles point and could not hang on as the Blue Hens used a pair of three-set singles decisions to claim the match victory. Towson fell to 10-8 on the season and 2-3 in conference play with the loss.
The Tigers have six players with double-digit singles wins this season. Lucy Gloniger leads Towson with a 19-3 overall record and an impressive 13-1 mark in dual match play. She is 9-1 in her last 10 matches and enters Saturday on an eight-match win streak.
Nicole Shakhnazarova has played at the top singles flight for the Tigers this season, going 12-6 in dual match play.
Singles play is proving to be critical to the Tigers' success this season. Towson is 67-39 in dual singles this season while just 26-24 in dual doubles play. Seven of the Tigers' eight losses this season have come when dropping the opening doubles point. Of those seven losses, five have been decided by one point with doubles being the pivotal point.

Renate van Oorschodt lead doubles action for the Tigers and are 12-8 on the season and 9-6 in dual match play at the top flight.
Previewing the Dukes
James Madison enters Saturday's match on a five-match win streak. The Dukes are 14-5 overall and 2-1 in conference play. Jona Roka leads the Dukes' singles action with a 21-10 overall record. She has won six-straight matches to improve to 15-4 in dual match action. Timea Guibe also has 21 singles wins this season for the Dukes. She is 21-7 on the season and 13-5 in dual matches, including a 12-3 mark at the top flight. Guibe and Kimmy Herrock are the Dukes' top doubles team this season, holding an 8-7 record at the top flight.
Series History
Saturday's match will be a rematch of the 2016 CAA Quarterfinals. Last year, third-seeded James Madison took down sixth-seeded Towson 4-1 as
Lucy Williams provided the Tigers' sole point. Towson is looking for it's first-ever win over James Madison as the Dukes lead series history 15-0. The two teams first met in the 2003 season with the Dukes claiming a 7-0 sweep.
