TOWSON, Md. – Jessica Assenmacher of Johannesburg, South Africa has signed her national letter of intent to play for the Towson University women's tennis team in 2019.
Assenmacher will be joining the Tigers for the 2019 season, which is set to begin at the end of January.

Jamie Peterson. "Jessica brings strong singles and doubles skills to Towson, for which we look forward to benefitting from the next four years. She has been a National Junior Champion in doubles and ranked in the top-16 in singles in South Africa. In addition to being a skilled player she is a team player and just as excited to be at Towson as we are to have her."
This year Assnemacher has capitalized on her final year playing juniors tennis in South Africa as a doubles semi-finalist in Grade 3 ITF. She also reached the round of 16 in singles play. She was named the school's team captain and received awards from her school for academic achievement as well.
In 2017 Assenmacher found success in ITF action, as the doubles champion in Grade 4 ITF. She was doubles semi-finalist in two other levels of ITF play as well. Her U18 singles ranking was in the top-20 and was seventh in doubles entering 2018.
At the end-of-year South African U16 Doubles for 2016, she was ranked No. 1. The ranking came after she was a finalist in doubles and mixed doubles at the Junior Nationals for the second time in her career, and finished seventh in the South African Junior Masters.
In 2015 Assenmacher won the national title in doubles and mixed doubles for her age group. That year she also placed fifth at the South African Junior Nationals U14, won the Marks Park U18 singles tournament and was invited to play in the South African Junior Masters where she finished ninth overall.
