TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's tennis team has added Elessa Jacobs to its roster after she signed her national letter of intent to play for the Tigers. She will be eligible to play in the 2019-20 season.
Jacobs attends Easton Area High School in Easton, Pennsylvania. She began playing tennis competitively at age 4, and has continued playing in United States Tennis Association (USTA) Tournaments since. Currently she is ranked No. 13 in the Middle States Region which includes Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. Nationally for high school seniors she is ranked No. 245.
"Towson women's tennis is lucky to have Elessa Jacobs for the next four years," said head coach
Jamie Peterson. "She brings athleticism, a strong desire to win and outstanding academics to the team. Elessa will get physically stronger and her game will become well-rounded quickly. There is no doubt the future is bright for Elessa and Towson."
Jacobs' parents, Eric and Cynthia, both were college student-athletes as her father played basketball at Scranton University and her mother played field hockey and lacrosse at Kutztown University.
In her high school career she was a three-time District XI Champion, with four undefeated regular seasons. Jacobs was a PIAA State Quarterfinalist in 2018 and was named the East Penn Conference Scholar Athlete.
